SFS Philosophy1. Seoul Foreign School is a Christian international school that provides education based on a Christian understanding of God, His activity in the world and His special relationship with people.
2. The school, founded in 1912 by Christian mission organizations, accepts the following beliefs as basic to the Christian faith:
2.1 God created, sustains and directs the world toward the fulfillment of His purpose;
2.2 Human beings, created in God’s own image, separated themselves from God through resistance to His will;
2.3 Out of His grace and unconditional love, God offers the gift of redemption from sin only through reconciliation with Himself by a personal acceptance of Jesus Christ, the resurrected Lord and Savior;
2.4 God’s plan of salvation is fully revealed in the divinely inspired and authoritative Word of God in the Old and New Testaments;
2.5 Empowered and guided by the Holy Spirit, Christians express faith in Jesus Christ through their attitudes, words, conduct and relationships.
3. The school will represent and commend the Christian faith to students as a way of life worthy of deep consideration and acceptance. At the same time the school will maintain an atmosphere of mutual respect and ensure the right of all students to make their own faith decisions, free of pressure or fear of disadvantage.
4. The school regards each student as a unique individual loved by God regardless of race, religion, gender or nationality. While focusing on academic excellence, the school is sensitive to the spiritual, physical, emotional and social needs of the students.
5. Based on the above Christian beliefs, the school strives to:
5.1 Provide quality university-preparatory Western-style education;
5.2 Meet the needs of each enrolled student, subject to limitations of finances, facilities and personnel, in keeping with the school’s responsibility toward the student body as a whole;
5.3 Offer opportunities for students to acquire an understanding of their local and global environment, so that they may learn to live in a mature, caring and responsible manner and be guided toward lives of fulfillment and service;
5.4 Stimulate and enhance students’ ability to use critical thinking skills effectively throughout life.
