Arts Facilities

Seoul Foreign School's commitment to excellent arts programs can be seen throughout the arts facilities across campus.  While visual arts facilities are located within the four division-specific academic buildings, the shared performing arts facilities are purpose-built and designed for the many performing arts programs being offered. 

Lyso Center for the Performing Arts

The flagship facility of the performing arts program, completed in 2003, is the Lyso Center for the Performing Arts.  This building sits at the front of the SFS campus, and is used for classes, performances, art galleries and meetings.  In addition to the main music department office and rehearsals spaces, this building houses the Blackbox Theatre and Mainstage Theatre, two state-of-the-art theatre spaces used extensively throughout the year.  Some of the features of the LCPA include:

    • 9-meter revolve built into the stage

    • HD, multi-camera video system for recording and live-streaming of events
    • Fully removable Wenger orchestra shell
  • Blackbox Theatre
    • Flexible seating venue for up to 150
    • 100+ conventional lighting fixtures
  • Makeup room & change rooms utilized by both theatres
  • Set construction area with lumber storage and full stock of power tools for woodworking
  • Costumes & props storage rooms
  • Band, orchestra and choir rehearsal rooms acoustically treated for each discipline
    • Full audio recording capability installed in each room
  • 6 private, acoustically treated music practice rooms
  • Music composition & theory lab
    • 12 desktop workstations with MIDI keyboards
    • Software: Sibelius, Smart Music, Music Maker 15, E-Jay and Auralia, Songwriter
Robb Hall Theatre

With the construction of the Multi-Purpose Center in 2006 came the new Robb Hall Theatre, another fully-equipped, state-of-the-art performance facility for those performances requiring a more intimate atmosphere.  Constructed at the center of campus, Robb Hall remains the most frequently used space on a daily basis for assemblies, meetings, and small-scale concerts and performances.  Like the LCPA, however, Robb Hall is equipped to handle any production need for full-scale concerts and performances, including:

  • 420 seats
  • Set construction area
  • Change rooms
  • 150+ conventional and LED lighting fixtures
  • Digital lighting control console
  • 6 channels of wireless audio, 50+ channels of wired audio
  • Motorized battens
  • SD camera system for CCTV feed of stage to support areas and live-broadcasting
Teaching/Studio Spaces

In addition to the performance spaces, a number of general music, drama and visual arts studios are spread throughout the divisional buildings around campus.  These rooms are purpose-built and designed to support student learning in the arts.

Academics

The Elementary and Middle Schools follow a US-style curriculum. The British division follows the National Curriculum of England. In the High School Gr. 9-10 students may choose to take the IGCSE Program and for Gr. 11-12 we offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. Namsan Int'l Kindergarten is a PYP candidate school.

SFS athletes develop character, responsibility, dedication, commitment, teamwork, leadership, and experience applicable in all areas of life.  While our teams enjoy winning results in competitive conferences, we measure success well beyond the win-loss column.

Fine Arts

Seoul Foreign School enjoys a long history of rich curricular and co-curricular performing and visual arts programs.  Over 90% of our students are involved in the arts each year and are showcased in our visual arts displays and over 40 annual public performances put on by our music and drama departments.
