The Middle School has one counselor who assists students, parents and administration on a variety of levels.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
1) Individual Student Counseling regarding transition issues--adjustment to Korea and SFS emotional development social skills resolving conflicts communication skills stress management coping skills
2) Counseling with Teachers about Students
Assisting teachers in the referral of students to Student Study Team Teaming with teachers as we meet with parents to build plans for students
Administering the school’s achievement testing program Interpreting test results alongside teachers Providing test results and interpretations to teachers for parents Teaming with the school psychologist in all psycho-eval testing Liaising with the SFMS PTA parent transitions coordinator
4) Service to New Students and Parents
Overseeing the orientation and acclimation of new students to SFS Assisting parents to find local resources for students and families in need of further professional help Maintaining active communication with community mental health professionals

SFMS offers a combination of push-in and pull-out services to those students who require additional academic support.
Seoul Foreign School has a school psychologist who helps children and youth succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. She collaborates with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students as well as strengthen connections between home and school.l
